About Us

A Cup for Africa Mission (CAM) was founded by Ray Desmarais and Vedaste Ndamiye in 2009. After giving several orphans a safe place to live – which included food, shelter and supervision – CAM established a sewing machine project for single mothers with the aim of assisting them in becoming self-sufficient. Since that time, CAM has expanded its ministry and operates a full-time Transitional Home (orphanage) with the goal of integrating children back into society in good, safe homes. CAM runs educational sponsorship program which provides two meals per day, covers school fees, and gives a school uniform to each child. CAM has conducted successful vocational training with sewing programs and also leads an ongoing weekly outreach that feeds many in the local community.

CAM was officially recognized by the Government of Canada as a registered charity in October 2010, and is registered with the government of Uganda. The charity is governed by a strong and committed board with members from many Christian denominations. Our board members include men and women from various backgrounds as well as volunteers who give of their time and resources to help change the lives of children in Uganda.

(Our CRA registration number is: 854719259rr0001.)
